OceanIntranet Education Edition

OceanIntranet Education Edition is a comprehensive information management system aimed at the education market.
The Intranet is easy to use as it is accessed through a web browser similar to browsing the Internet.

Functionality

There are a number of functions that this intranet will provide. Mainly, it will provide a line of communication between senior management and members of staff and students that can be accessed by any networked machine throughout the school. It will also allow administration staff the ability to add/modify data that they need during their daily routine. Real time reports give instant access to data stored in the intranet database.

It is primarily split into 3 different sections:

The 3 sections are:

1. Pupil section : This section is a pupil intranet and gives pupils access to various pages such as news and links to sites that will help them in their studies. The text in this section can be controlled by predefined members of staff who can add/edit/delete text. Pupils can only access the pupil section and cannot access any other section.

2. Staff section : This section is the staff intranet and will contain data specific for staff use. Staff can access both the pupil and staff sections, but cannot access the admin section.

3. Admin section : Predefined individuals, eg office staff and members of senior management, can access the admin section. Depending upon their status, they can modify various topics relevant to their work on a daily basis.

• Increased productivity as staff can access a multitude of options previously fragmented in various files/paperwork.

• No need for formal training in packages such as Microsoft Access or Filemaker Pro, as all work is web based through a familiar client such as Internet Explorer.

Reports

There will be a number of predefined reports that are available to the administration staff and senior management. Depending upon the sensitivity of the documents, a select group can be defined and given access to view these reports. These reports are displayed in real time and contain an instant snapshop of data currently held in the system.
